1. | Remove the front wheel. Refer to FRONT FENDER, REMOVAL in the Service Manual. FLHR/I or FLHT/C/I models with fender tip lamps: Refer to FRONT FENDER TIP LAMP, JUMPER HARNESS, REMOVAL in the Service Manual. |

2. | Remove the four front fender mounting bolts and flat washers, and discard. Remove the fender. |
3. | Carefully center the fender and adapter bracket assembly between the front fork slider tubes and gently bring the assembly upward until the holes in the bracket align with the holes in the fork tubes. | |
4. | Obtain two bolts from the kit. Apply Loctite® 243 (blue) to the bolt threads, and secure one side of the fender to the fork tube. Tighten the bolts, but leave the hardware loose enough to allow fender adjustment later in the installation. | |
5. | Line up the mounting holes on the other side of the fender and install the bolts in the same manner. | |
6. | Standing in front of the bike, determine if the fender is centered between the fork tubes. When the fender appears to be properly centered, and the space between the adapter bracket and fork tube on each side appears to be even, tighten all hardware to 22–27 N·m (16–20 ft-lbs). | |
7. | Install the front wheel. Refer to FRONT FENDER, INSTALLATION in the Service Manual. |
