Installation Requirements
WARNINGRider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00308b)
INSTALL
| 1. | See Figure 1. Slide U-nuts (6) onto bosses of endcap retaining ring (5). | |
| 2. | Align U-nuts with corresponding holes in endcap (1, 2, 3 or 4). | |
| 3. | Insert endcap retaining ring (5) into inside of endcap. | |
| 4. | Insert endcap and attachment ring into muffler. | |
| 5. | Align U-nut holes with holes in muffler body. NOTE Failure to tighten screws alternately could cause a gap between endcap and muffler. | |
| 6. | Install screws (7). Alternately tighten screws. Torque: 9.5–12.2 N·m (7–9 ft-lbs) | |
| 7. | Repeat on other side. |
NOTICE
Wipe all fingerprints off of exhaust system components after installation and before starting engine. Oil from hands can leave permanent marks on exhaust system finish. (00346a)
