Installation Requirements
This kit requires the separate purchase of Loctite® 243 Medium Strength Threadlocker and Sealant - Blue (Part Number 99642-97)
This kit requires the use of Premium Air Filter (part number 29400293)
WARNINGRider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00333b)
NOTE
This instruction sheet references service manual information. A service manual for your model motorcycle is required for this installation. One is available from a Harley-Davidson dealer.
REMOVAL
- Remove main fuse. See the service manual.
- Carefully remove and discard the original air cleaner cover insert from air cleaner.
INSTALLATION
NOTE
When servicing the air cleaner, apply Loctite® 243 (blue) on fastener threads.
| 1. | Apply Loctite 243 to the screw (2). Position the air cleaner insert (3). Install the screw. | |
| 2. | Then tighten the air cleaner cover screw (2) securely 4.1–8 N·m (36–60 in-lbs). NOTE Apply a small amount of dish soap to the medallion O-ring to aid in installation of medallion. | |
| 3. | Install the medallion (3) into the center hole by pressing in place. Do not damage the O-ring. |
Final Assembly
- Install main fuse.
