This instruction sheet references service manual information. A service manual for your model motorcycle is required for this installation and is available from a Harley-Davidson dealer.

NOTE: Models equipped with dual front brakes and models being equipped with a wheel with dual brake mounting surfaces require twice as many screws and washers (10 total screws or 2 chrome screw kits if available).
INSTALLATION
1. Remove existing front wheel assembly. Retain axle, axle nut, brake disc and wheel spacers for kit installation. See the service manual.
NOTE
  • Install valve stem (40999-87) included in the installation kit.
2. See Figure 2. Install valve stem assembly on wheel. See the service manual.
NOTE
Install the primary bearing first using appropriate service manual and WHEEL BEARING INSTALLER/REMOVER 94143-09A.
  • The left side of the wheel has a groove machined into the hub to identify it as the primary bearing side.
  • The wheel should be installed so that the groove is on the left side of the motorcycle.
  • The brake disc is installed on the left side of the wheel.
NOTICE
Do not re-use brake disc/rotor screws. Re-using these screws can result in torque loss and damage to brake components. (00319c)
3. Assemble the wheel installation, kit components and brake disc(s) to wheel, using the appropriate service parts table. See the service manual.
4. When installing tire, ensure protective covers are installed on the tire mounting machine to avoid paint chipping.
5. Install previously removed wheel spacers. See service manual.
6. Install front wheel (1), stock axle and stock axle nut. See service manual.
MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
Parts must be maintained regularly so that they keep their original shine and luster.
  1. Clean heavily-soiled wheel surfaces using Wheel & Tire Cleaner, applied with Harley Wheel and Spoke Brush.
  2. Thoroughly clean wheel with a good quality cleaner, such as Wheel & Tire Cleaner.
  3. After cleaning and polishing, seal the finish with a good quality sealer, such as Glaze Poly Sealant.
WARNING
Harley-Davidson recommends the use of its specified tires. Harley-Davidson vehicles are not designed for operation with non-specified tires, including snow, moped and other special-use tires. Use of non-specified tires can adversely affect stability, handling or braking and lead to loss of vehicle control, which could result in death or serious injury. (00024d)
