Do not use the TPMS as a pressure gauge when adding or removing air from a tire. Sensor data is sent to the TPMS at varying intervals which does not refresh immediately when adding or removing air from the tire. Over-inflation or under-inflation can result. The TPMS sensor will not communicate pressures above 345–414 kPa (50.0–60.0 psi) depending on altitude. Air is used to calibrate the TPMS. Use of 100 percent nitrogen does affect the accuracy of the system. Do not rotate valve stems from their properly installed position. Can affect the valve stem seal and result in a slow leak. Do not use liquid tire balancers or sealing agents in wheels with a TPMS sensor. Damage to the sensor can result.

GENERAL

DT II is used to update the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) sensor for the NEW tire pressure requirement and it will also reduce vehicle top speed. The max speed rating for this tire is 106 mph.

Installation Requirements

NOTE

Should the vehicle need to be returned to OEM tire configuration, tire pressures and control module will have to be reset to factory specifications.

WARNING

Rider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00333b)

WARNING

Harley-Davidson front and rear tires are not the same. Interchanging front and rear tires can cause tire failure, which could result in death or serious injury. (00026a)

WARNING

Harley-Davidson recommends the use of its specified tires. Harley-Davidson vehicles are not designed for operation with non-specified tires, including snow, moped and other special-use tires. Use of non-specified tires can adversely affect stability, handling or braking and lead to loss of vehicle control, which could result in death or serious injury. (00024d)

WARNING

Do not exceed manufacturer's recommended pressure to seat beads. Exceeding recommended bead seat pressure can cause tire rim assembly to burst, which could result in death or serious injury. (00282a)

WARNING

Only install original equipment tire valves and valve caps. A valve, or valve and cap combination, that is too long or too heavy can strike adjacent components and damage the valve, causing rapid tire deflation. Rapid tire deflation can cause loss of vehicle control, which could result in death or serious injury. (00281a)

PREPARE

Remove main fuse. See service manual.

REMOVE

1.	Remove wheel assembly. See service manual.
2.	Remove tire.

INSTALL

1.	Install new tire.
2.	Install wheel assembly. See service manual.
3.	Figure 2 Install tire label. a. Thoroughly clean belt guard (1) surface using a 50:50 isopropyl alcohol/water solution. b. Allow surface to dry completely. c. Apply tire label (1) to belt guard (2) 5 mm (¼ in) left of warning label (not shown).

COMPLETE

1.	Install main fuse. See service manual.
2.	Configure vehicle using special tool. Special Tool: DIGITAL TECHNICIAN II (HD-48650) a. Select VEHICLE SETUP icon under Toolbox. b. Follow on-screen prompts to align vehicle with rated tire speed and calibrate TPMS with recommended tire pressure.
