Installation Requirements
WARNING
Rider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00333b)
NOTE
This instruction sheet references service manual information. A service manual for the year and model motorcycle is required for this installation and is available from:
PREPARE
1. Set vehicle upright. See service manual.
REMOVE
1. Figure 2 Remove footpeg.
a. Remove E-clip (5).

Special Tool: E-CLIP TOOL (HD-52369)

NOTE
When removing E-clip, use E-clip tool to help prevent damage to painted surfaces.
b. Remove clevis pin (1).
c. Remove footpeg (3).
d. Remove torsion spring (2).
2. Figure 3 Remove foot support bracket.
a. Remove screws (2)
b. Remove foot support bracket (1).
3. Remove brake pedal.
a. Figure 5 Remove screw (3) from master cylinder bracket (4).
NOTE
Do not disconnect master cylinder from brake lines. See service manual.
b. Figure 4 Remove master cylinder clevis pin (1).
c. Figure 5 Remove screws (2) from master cylinder (1). Retain screws.

INSTALL
1. Figure 1 Install brake pedal assembly.
a. Install brake pedal assembly (3) to footpeg mounting bracket (1) with washer (16) and retaining ring clip (17).
b. Install brake pedal crank assembly (7) to footpeg mounting bracket (1) with washer (16) and retaining ring clip (17).
NOTE
Orientation of crank (7) needs to be as shown in Figure 1 with short arm towards bracket (1).
c. Install brake pedal rod (4) with two screws (8). Tighten.
Torque: 20.3–24.4 N·m (15–18 ft-lbs)
d. Install brake pedal crank (5) to brake pedal bracket sub-assembly (2) with screw (15), washer (9), washer (10) and locknut (11). Tighten.
Torque: 24.4–30 N·m (18–22 ft-lbs)
e. Install brake pedal rod (6) and two screws (8). Tighten.
Torque: 20.3–24.4 N·m (15–18 ft-lbs)
2. Figure 1 Install master cylinder to brake pedal bracket sub-assembly (2) with Original Equipment (OE) screws removed earlier. Tighten.
Torque: 24.4–30 N·m (18–22 ft-lbs)
3. Figure 1 Install master cylinder rod to brake pedal crank (5) with clevis pin (12) and cotter circle (13).
4. See Figure 1 and Figure 6. Install complete assembly to vehicle with two screws (14) and screw (18).
a. Rotate brake pedal all the way up for proper alignment of brackets.
b. Tighten screws (14) and screw (18).
Torque: 54.2–61 N·m (40–45 ft-lbs)
Torque: 40.8–54.2 N·m (30–40 ft-lbs)
5. Figure 2 Install footpeg removed earlier.
a. Insert short leg of torsion spring (2) into hole in footpeg (3).
b. Insert long leg of torsion spring (2) into hole in foot support bracket (6).
c. Rotate footpeg into position and install clevis pin (1).
d. Install E-clip (5).

NOTE
When installing E-clip, use E-clip tool to help prevent damage to painted surfaces.

WARNING
After repairing the brake system, test brakes at low speed. If brakes are not operating properly, testing at high speeds can cause loss of control, which could result in death or serious injury. (00289a)
