Installation Requirements
WARNING
Rider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00333b)
NOTE
This instruction sheet references service manual information. A service manual for the year and model motorcycle is required for this installation and is available from:
PREPARE
1. Set vehicle upright. See service manual.
REMOVE
1. Figure 4 Remove footpeg.
a. Remove E-clip (2).

Special Tool: E-CLIP TOOL (HD-52369)

NOTE
When removing E-clip, use E-clip tool to help prevent damage to painted surfaces.
b. Remove clevis pin (5).
c. Remove footpeg (3).
d. Remove torsion spring (4).
2. Figure 3 Remove foot support bracket.
a. Remove screws (2).
b. Remove foot support bracket (1).
3. Disconnect shifter connecting rod from transmission.

INSTALL
1. Figure 5 Assemble shift lever assembly.
a. Install shift lever arm (1) to shift lever mid control (2) with screws (3) and washers (4).
2. Figure 1 Install shift lever assembly (2) to footpeg mounting bracket (3) with two nylon washers (13), washer (8) and retaining ring (9).
3. Figure 1 Install shift linkage rod assembly (1) to shift lever assembly (2) with screw (4). Tighten.
Torque: 13.6–19 N·m (10–14 ft-lbs)
4. Install assembly to vehicle with screws (6) except for FXDRS models. Tighten.
Torque: 54.2–61 N·m (40–45 ft-lbs)
5. For FXDRS models: Install assembly to vehicle with screws (7) and spacer (10). Tighten.
Torque: 54.2–61 N·m (40–45 ft-lbs)
6. Connect shift linkage assembly (1) to transmission using screw removed earlier. Tighten.
Torque: 13.6–19 N·m (10–14 ft-lbs)
7. Figure 6 Install toe peg (1) and screw (4). Tighten.
Torque: 10.8–16.2 N·m (8–12 ft-lbs)
8. Figure 6 Install plug (5) into empty hole in vehicle frame.
9. Figure 4 Install footpeg removed earlier.
a. Insert short leg of torsion spring (4) into hole in footpeg (3).
b. Insert long leg of torsion spring (4) into hole in foot support bracket (6).
c. Rotate footpeg into position.
d. Install clevis pin (5).
e. Install E-clip (2).

Special Tool: E-CLIP TOOL (HD-52369)

NOTE
When installing E-clip, use E-clip tool to help prevent damage to painted surfaces.
10. Figure 5 Adjust toe peg height by moving slotted lever of shift lever assembly (1).
11. Tighten screws (3).
Torque: 9.5–13.6 N·m (7–10 ft-lbs)
