Electrical Overload
NOTICE
It is possible to overload the vehicle's charging system by adding too many electrical accessories. If the combined electrical accessories operating at any one time consume more electrical current than the vehicle's charging system can produce, the electrical consumption can discharge the battery and cause damage to the vehicle's electrical system. (00211d)

RECEIVER AND TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING
Operational Overview
NOTE
  • Buttons on the controller are intentionally recessed. When the controller is stowed, care should be taken to ensure the buttons will not be inadvertently pressed as they can also be used to send the door actuate command.
  • The HomeLink® transmitter will communicate directly with compatible garage opener units. For compatibility, visit www.homelink.com
The kit contains a controller and a HomeLink® transmitter. The controller contains a button and LED interface used to facilitate the programming of the HomeLink transmitter. After successful programming, the controller translates door actuate commands on the flash-to-pass button to the HomeLink® transmitter. Access to the controller is only needed for programming actions. The controller supports two independent channels.
Channel Programming
NOTE
  • A programmed HomeLink® transmitter acts like a key to your garage. Deleting and confirming the channels are inactive is recommended if this kit changes ownership.
  • The controller does not store information capable of opening the door. There is no decommissioning process for the controller. A replacement controller will operate a programmed HomeLink® transmitter with no additional steps. A replacement HomeLink® transmitter must be programmed to operate.
NOTE
  • Before programming HomeLink to a garage door opener or gate operator, make sure that people and objects are out of the way of the device to prevent potential harm or damage. Your motorized garage door or gate will open and close while you are programming HomeLink. Do not program HomeLink if people or pets are in the path of the door or gate. A moving garage door or gate can cause serious injury or death to people and pets or damage to objects.
  • Vehicle exhaust contains carbon monoxide, a dangerous gas. Do not run the vehicle's engine while programming HomeLink. Exhaust gas can cause serious injury or death. When programming a garage door opener, it is advised to park outside of the garage.
  • Do not use HomeLink with any garage door opener that lacks safety stop and reverse features as required by U.S. federal safety standards (this includes any garage door opener model manufactured before April 1, 1982. A garage door that cannot detect an object signaling the door to stop and reverse - does not meet current U.S. federal safety standards.
NOTE
  • When programming a garage door opener or gate, it is advised to unplug the device during the HomeLink programming and also if performing the "cycling" process to prevent possible motor burn-up. Continuous operation could damage the motor.
  • For some garage door openers using rolling code, you may need a stepladder or other sturdy, safe device to reach the “Learn,” “Smart,” or “Program” button later in programming.
  • It is recommended to get a new battery for your garage door remote for more accurate programming.
1. Install main fuse.
2. Press and hold one of the controller’s button for 5 seconds until corresponding Light Emitting Diode (LED) starts to blink slowly, then release button.
3. Place garage door remote 1–3 inches (2–8 cm) away from HomeLink module and hold button on garage door remote, causing it to transmit, until controller’s LED either stays on solid or blinks rapidly. This indicates HomeLink has successfully acquired the garage door remote signal.
4. Press controller button that was just programmed for 1 second, then release. Repeat this press, hold, and release process up to two more times. If garage door is activated at any point during this sequence, training process is complete.
5. If garage door was activated during previous step, confirm operation using FTP button. If garage door was not activated during previous step, additional steps are required.
NOTE
The next steps are time sensitive so, having a second person and a stepladder may make completion of these steps quicker and easier.
6. At the garage door opener motor-head unit, locate the “Learn”, “Smart”, or “Program” button. This button can usually be found where the hanging antenna wire is attached (see the device’s manual to identify this button). The name and color of the button may vary by manufacturer.
7. Press and release the “Learn”, “Smart”, or “Program” button. Depending on the brand of garage door opener, an indicator light may begin blinking.
8. Within 20 seconds, return to vehicle and press and hold controller button for 1 second, then release. Repeat this press, hold, and release process up to two more times. HomeLink should activate your rolling code equipped device.
NOTE
Controller buttons are used only during HomeLink training/programming. For general activation, please use the Flash To Pass (FTP) button.
9. Confirm operation using FTP button.
Sommer/D-Mode (if applicable)
NOTE
If programming both channels and only one channel uses this mode, program it first.
1. Press controller’s channel button seven times within 3 seconds. LED will double-blink for about 3 seconds to confirm. HomeLink® has loaded the D-Mode signal.
2. To complete the training process, additional (Garage Door Opener synchronization) steps are required.
NOTE
The next steps are time sensitive so, having a second person and a stepladder may make completion of these steps quicker and easier.
3. At garage door opener motor-head unit, (security gate motor, etc...) locate the “Learn”, “Smart”, or “Program” button. This button can usually be found where hanging antenna wire is attached to motor-head unit (see device’s manual to identify this button). The name and color of the button may vary by manufacturer.
4. Press and release the “Learn”, “Smart”, or “Program” button. Depending on brand of your garage door opener, an indicator light may begin blinking.
5. Within 20 seconds, return to your vehicle and press and hold the controller’s button for 1 second, then release. Repeat this press, hold, and release process up to two more times to complete the training process. HomeLink should now activate your rolling code equipped device.
NOTE
Controller buttons are used only during HomeLink training/programming. For general activation, please use FTP button.
6. Confirm operation using FTP button.
Erase Channel
1. Press and hold both control module buttons for 10 seconds until both LEDs turn on.
2. Release both buttons, then press the channel button to be erased.
3. Verify channel is erased by pressing channel button on controller. An erased channel will not illuminate that channel’s LED.
4. Repeat these steps to erase an additional channel.
Channel Activation (Open/Close Door)
NOTE
Holding FTP button will only result in a single activation signal.
  • FTP button is long pressed once within 1 second, activate channel 1.
  • FTP button is short pressed twice within 1 second, activate channel 2.
