Installation Requirements
WARNINGRider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00308b)
INSTALL
Front
| 1. | See Figure 2 and Figure 3. Install shaft (10) through front axle mount. | |
| 2. | See Figure 1 and Figure 3. Install left and right inner plates (8,9) onto shaft (10). | |
| 3. | Apply threadlocker to hex nut (6).LOCTITE 243 MEDIUM STRENGTH THREADLOCKER AND SEALANT (BLUE) (99642-97) | |
| 4. | Install hex nuts (6). Tighten. Torque: 18 N·m (159.3 in-lbs) | |
| 5. | Install spacer (7), housing (5), washer (4) and lock nut (3) to shaft (10). | |
| 6. | Tighten lock nut (3). Tighten. Torque: 18 N·m (159.3 in-lbs) | |
| 7. | Install spring (2) and end cap (1). | |
| 8. | Repeat steps 2-7 on opposite side. |
Rear
| 1. | See Figure 2 and Figure 4. Install shaft (10) through rear axle mount. | |
| 2. | See Figure 1 and Figure 4. Install left and right inner plates (8,9) onto shaft (10). | |
