Installation Requirements
WARNINGDo not install these seat kits on motorcycles that are not equipped with an appropriate grab strap and passenger footpegs. If footpegs and grab strap are not installed, passenger could fall from moving motorcycle or grab onto operator, causing loss of control and death or serious injury. (00410b)
WARNINGRider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00333b)
NOTE
This instruction sheet references service manual information. A service manual for the year and model motorcycle is required for this installation and is available from:

These items are available at your local Harley-Davidson dealership.
- Separate purchase of Low-Profile Solo Touring Seat (Part No. 52000690 or 52000691) is required for installation with Low-Profile pillions (Kit 52400329 or 52400330).
- Separate purchase of Solo Touring Seat (Part No. 52000750 or 52000751) is required for installation with non Low-Profile pillions (Kit 52400343 or 52400378).
- Separate purchase Seat Mount Kit (Part No. 10400077) is required, IF the Original Equipment (OE) seat mounting hardware is not available.
INSTALL
| 1. | Figure 2 Remove custom nuts (4) and lift rear of solo seat. | |
| 2. | Install passenger grab strap (5) onto studs. | |
| 3. | Install solo seat over grab strap (5). | |
| 4. | Install custom nuts (4). Tighten. Torque: 1–1.7 N·m (9–15 in-lbs) Custom Nut | |
| 5. | Install pillion seat (2) through grab strap (5) to seat custom nuts. a. Slide two slots in pillion base into grooves on the custom nuts. b. Verify that tab at front of seat engages the slot. | |
| 6. | Secure rear of pillion to fender. a. Position seat tab onto fender nut (3). b. Install seat screw (1). Tighten. Torque: 5.4–8.1 N·m (48–72 in-lbs) Seat Screw | |
| 7. | Lift up on pillion and rider seat to ensure it is secure. |
