Installation Requirements
WARNING
Rider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00333b)
These items are available at your local Harley-Davidson dealership.
  • Separate purchase of muffler clamps (Part No. 65900043) is required.
  • All models require Electronic Control Module (ECM) calibration with Screamin' Eagle Pro Street Tuner for proper installation.
Noise Emission Warranty
Harley-Davidson warrants that this muffler, at the time of sale, meet all applicable noise and emissions standards. This warranty extends to the original purchaser for purposes other than resale, and to all subsequent buyers. Direct warranty claims to an authorized Harley-Davidson dealer.
Tampering Prohibition
NOTE
To avoid penalties under state and local ordinances, repair or replace this product if motorcycle noise increases significantly through use.
Regulations prohibit any modifications to this exhaust system which cause the motorcycle to exceed noise standards. Use of a motorcycle with such a modified exhaust system is also prohibited.
PREPARE
1. Remove exhaust shields as necessary. See service manual.
2. Remove third Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) (if equipped). See service manual.
REMOVE
1. Remove muffler. Retain screws for later use. See service manual.
INSTALL
1. Install gasket into muffler, if equipped.
NOTE
Use a pipe expander (such as Snap-on Part No. PH300) on mufflers (1) to aid installation of gaskets, if necessary. Flange on gasket should not be inside muffler inlet.
2. See Figure 2. Install muffler.
a. Loosely install new clamp (3).
b. Align muffler (1) with bracket. Slide muffler on.
c. Install Original Equipment (OE) screws (2). Tighten
Torque: 13.6–16.3 N·m (120–144 in-lbs)
d. Tighten clamp.
Torque: 51.5–58.3 N·m (38–43 ft-lbs)

COMPLETE
NOTICE
Wipe all fingerprints off of exhaust system components after installation and before starting engine. Oil from hands can leave permanent marks on exhaust system finish. (00346a)
1. Start engine. Check for exhaust leaks.
2. Install left and right saddlebags. See service manual.
3. Calibrate ECM. See Installation Requirements.
