INSTALL
NOTE
Proper installation of kit requires that tasks be completed for one side of the vehicle first before continuing to the opposite side.
1. See Figure 2. Route turn signal harness through access hole of turn signal mount (1).
2. See Figure 5. Assemble turn signal.
a. Assemble turn signal (4) and lamp mounting support (3) to turn signal mount (1).
NOTE
  • See Figure 5. Discard washer originally located between turn signal mount (1) and screw (5). It is not used with this kit.
  • Left turn signal license plate mounting support is positioned between turn signal mount (1) and lamp mounting support (3).
b. Install screw (5). Tighten.
Torque: 20–24 N·m (15–18 ft-lbs)
3. Route harness through turn signal mount.
a. Right: See Figure 3. Route turn signal harness (1) through turn signal mount and exit past the mounting boss (2).
b. Left: See Figure 4. Route turn signal (1) and license plate (2) harnesses through turn signal mount and exit past the mounting boss (3).
4. See Figure 5. Install turn signal backplate (7) and flat head hex socket screws (6) to turn signal mount (1). Tighten.
Torque: 0.7–0.79 N·m (6–7 in-lbs)
5. Route turn signal harness through hole of fender support (9).
6. Install turn signal mount assembly.
NOTE
  • See Figure 5. Washer (10) is required for FXST, FXBB, FXBBS, FXBR, FXBRS and FLSL models.
  • See Figure 5. Washer (10) is not to be used on FLFB, FLFBS, FXLR or FXLRS models.
a. Install turn signal mount assembly (1) to fender support (9).
b. Install flange locknut (8) and screw (2) and washer (5) if required on models listed above. Tighten.
Torque: 34–37 N·m (25–27 ft-lbs)
7. Route harness through fender support.
a. Right: See Figure 6. Using wire retention pads (2), route turn signal harness (1) through fender support (3).
b. Left: See Figure 7. Using wire retention pads (1), route turn signal and license plate harnesses (2) through fender support (3).
8. Remove threadlocker from Original Equipment (OE) screws (2,4) and mounting hole threads before applying threadlocker to screw threads. Refer to CLEANING FASTENER THREADS.
9. See Figure 8. Apply one or two drops of threadlocker to screws (4).LOCTITE 243 MEDIUM STRENGTH THREADLOCKER AND SEALANT (BLUE) (99642-97)
10. See Figure 8. Install fender support (1), washers (3) and screws (4).
a. Tighten.
Torque: 41–47 N·m (30–35 ft-lbs)
b. Loosen screws (4) and re-tighten.
Torque: 52–57 N·m (38–42 ft-lbs)

a. Position conduit away from butt joints while completing splice joints.
5. Use butt splices to patch black to black wires, violet to red wires.
6. Follow instructions in service manual to perform splice connector repair.
7. Slide conduit over entire red and black wires as well as butt splices.
8. Secure both ends of conduit with cable straps.
9. See Figure 9. Install cable straps. Note that cable straps should be over the sheath area or wrap wires with electrical tape.
CLEANING FASTENER THREADS
To attain proper clamp load, always clean fastener threads and threaded holes prior to assembly.
NOTE
Never use a thread-cutting tap or die to clean threads.
  • Clean all threadlocking material from fastener threads and threaded holes.
  • Use a wire brush or thread-chasing die to clean fastener threads.
  • Use a thread chaser to clean threaded holes.
  • Use PJ1 cleaner or equivalent to remove all traces of oil and contaminants from threads.
  • Clear all threaded holes with low-pressure compressed air.
COMPLETE
NOTE
Confirm that seat bumpers do not touch wires when seat is installed.
1. Install seat. After installing seat, pull up on seat to verify that it is secure. See service manual.
2. Install main fuse. See service manual.
3. Test functions of brake lights, running lights, turn signals and license plate illumination after wiring is connected.
