1. | Install any additional parts or accessories that may be required for proper installation of this Tour-Pak Rack Kit. | |||||||||||||||||||
2. | Remove the rubber mat from the bottom of the Tour-Pak. | |||||||||||||||||||
3. | If holes ARE NOT pre-drilled in the bottom of the Tour-Pak:
If holes ARE pre-drilled in the bottom of the
Tour-Pak, proceed to Step 4. a. Place the rack, upside-down, inside the Tour-Pak to use as a template. Carefully center the rack in the Tour-Pak from left to right, and position forward or rearward as desired. b. See Figure 1. Use either the four forward holes
(3) or the four rearward holes (4) in the rack as a guide to mark the location of four holes on the bottom inside surface of the Tour-Pak (2), as indicated in Figure 2. c. Obtain an 11/32 in (8.7 mm) diameter drill bit. Using a wood block underneath the drilling sites to prevent damage to the outer surface of the Tour-Pak. Carefully drill four holes, from the inside, through the bottom of the Tour-Pak base. NOTE The Tour-Pak can be installed using either set of four mounting holes in the rack. These holes provide a 3/4 in (19 mm) adjustment of the backrest position for rider comfort. |

4. | See Figure 5. Obtain the screws (2), washers (3) , and nuts (4) from this kit. Place a washer over the threads of each screw. Insert a screw, from the inside, through the bottom of the Tour-Pak and through one set of holes in the rack. Fasten each screw with a washer and nut, and tighten to 25 N·m (19 ft-lbs). | |||||||||||||||||||
5. | Install the rubber mat to the bottom of the Tour-Pak. | |||||||||||||||||||
6. | Stand behind the motorcycle. Place the forward notches (A) in the rack sideplates into the front docking points previously installed to the vehicle. See Figure 3 and check for correct notch engagement. NOTE Failure to engage the sideplate notches to the docking points can damage the rear docking points. |

7. | See Figure 4. Position the rear notches and rotary latches ( Figure 5 , B and C) over the rear docking points (2). Pull the latches back into their rearmost position. | |||||||||||||||||||
8. | Align the latches over the rear docking points. Verify the latches and rear notches fit into the neck (5) of the rear docking points. NOTE Some gentle squeezing or spreading of the upright sideplates may be needed. | |||||||||||||||||||
9. | Push downward on the sideplates, and close the rotary latches by pressing the latch lever as far forward as it goes. A click is heard when the latch is in place. If the latch does not close, do not force it. See Figure 3. Recheck for correct notch engagement. |
