This instruction sheet refers to service manual information. A service manual for this year/model motorcycle is required for this installation and is available from a Harley-Davidson dealer.

Remove two screws to release tail lamp assembly from chrome base.

See Figure 1. Remove the tail lamp connector (1) and tail lamp assembly from the circuit board.

On the new LED lamp assembly, the Blue wire and socket terminal are not installed in the four-way socket housing. Refer to the original lamp removed in Step 2, and observe which cavity contains the Blue wire. Note that the cavities are numbered on the face of the secondary lock. The Blue wire and terminal must be installed into the same cavity in the socket housing of the new lamp:

a. See Figure 2. On the secondary lock (2) side of the socket housing (1), position the socket terminal (5) with the slot (6) and crimp tails (7) facing up. (In the same direction as the button (3) on the top of the socket housing).

b. Insert the terminal into the correct cavity (4) until it snaps into place with an audible "click".

c. Gently tug on wire ends to verify that all terminals are locked.

d. Rotate the hinged secondary lock inward until tabs fully engage latches on both sides of connector.

NOTE

If the terminal must be removed and reinstalled, refer to the MULTILOCK ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS section of the appropriate Service Manual.

Apply dielectric grease to the LED tail lamp connector. Install the connector to the circuit board.

Install the LED tail lamp assembly to the chrome base using the two screws. Tighten to 2.3–2.7 N·m (20–24 in-lbs).

Repeat these steps 1 through 5 for the opposite tail lamp.

2013 and Earlier Models (only)

See Figure 3. Unplug both vehicle harness connectors from the original equipment tail lamp and turn signal converter module. The module is located under the rear frame web. See service manual.

Plug the open vehicle harness connectors into the module provided in the kit. (The kit module replaces the original equipment module.)

See Figure 4. Mount the module (1) to the underside of the rear frame web (3) using two cable straps (2).

2014 and Later Models do not use the module.

BCM Program Process (2014 and Later Models)

The BCM can self-learn if LED turn signals are installed when the Hazards are active after the LED installation. The BCM ignores the first eight cycles of the Hazards. It then learns during the next eight Hazards. After 16 cycles of the Hazards the setting is updated in the BCM.
