Installation Requirements
Proper installation of this kit requires the separate purchase of one muffler clamp (Part No. 65900007).
2017-later models require recalibration with Screamin' Eagle® Pro Street Tuner (sold seperately).
WARNINGRider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit.
If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation.
Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00308b)
PRODUCT INFORMATION
Tampering Prohibition
Federal law prohibits any modification to this exhaust system which causes the motorcycle to exceed the Federal noise standard. Use of the motorcycle with such a modified exhaust system is also prohibited.
NOTE
This product should be checked for repair or replacement if the motorcycle noise has increased significantly through use. Otherwise, the owner may become subject to penalties under state and local ordinances.
Noise Emission Warranty
Harley-Davidson warrants that these mufflers, at the time of sale, meet all applicable United States E.P.A. Federal noise and Emissions standards. This warranty extends to the first person who buys these mufflers for purposes other than resale, and to all subsequent buyers. Warranty claims should be directed to an authorized Harley-Davidson Dealer.
INSTALLATION
| 1. | See Figure 1. Remove intermediate shield (5). Retain clamps for installation. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 2. | Remove nuts (3), washers (2) and carriage bolts (1). | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 3. | Note orientation of stock muffler clamp (6), then loosen clamp. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 4. | Remove stock muffler (7) from muffler support bracket (4) and head pipe. Discard clamp. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 5. | See Figure 2. Place a new muffler clamp (6) on inlet end of muffler (7) in the same orientation as the stock clamp. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 6. | Install supplied carriage bolts (1) onto the bracket on muffler. NOTE XG750A muffler installation uses stock hardware. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 7. | Slide muffler onto head pipe while aligning carriage bolts with holes in the muffler support bracket (4). Install new nuts (3) and washers (2). Tighten. Torque: 25–30 N·m (18–22 ft-lbs) Carriage bolt nuts | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 8. | Tighten new muffler clamp. Torque: 51.5–58.3 N·m (38–43 ft-lbs) Muffler clamp | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 9. | Install intermediate shield (5) and clamps removed during disassembly. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
NOTICE Wipe all fingerprints off of exhaust system components after installation and before starting engine. Oil from hands can leave permanent marks on exhaust system finish. (00346a) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 10. | Wipe off all fingerprints. Oil from hands will burn permanently into finish. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 11. | Start engine and check for exhaust leaks. |
