Installation Requirements

Loctite^® 271 Threadlocker and Sealant - Blue (Part No. 99671-97) to secure the screws.

Rider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. See Figure 1 and Table 1.

INSTALLATION

WARNING

To prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, remove main fuse before proceeding. (00251b)

Remove the existing rear light bar. See the service manual. Retain screws (A).
Remove the license plate bracket if it is attached to the light bar. See the service manual. Retain hardware and parts.
Install the license plate bracket to the new rear light bar. See the service manual. Secure with screws removed earlier.
Install the new rear light bar. See the service manual. Secure with screws (A) removed earlier. Install all other components or parts that were previously removed.

WARNING

Be sure that all lights and switches operate properly before operating motorcycle. Low visibility of rider can result in death or serious injury. (00316a)

BCM Program Process

The BCM will self-learn the LED turn signals by activating the Hazards after LED installation. Activate the Hazard Warning Lamps (four-way flashers). See operator's manual or service manual. The BCM ignores the first 8 cycles of the Hazards. The BCM learns during the next 8 Hazards. The BCM is updated after 16 cycles.
