Installation Requirements
WARNINGRider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit.
If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation.
Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00308b)
Installation
| 1. | Remove end caps from mufflers and retain screws for later. | |
| 2. | See. Figure 1 Place end cap (1) on muffler and hold in place. | |
| 3. | Place end cap insert (2) inside end cap (1) and align screw holes with the tapped holes in the muffler. | |
| 4. | Install 4 end cap screws loosely and align the end cap script as desired. | |
| 5. | Torque the 4 end cap screws. Tighten. Torque: 10.8–13.6 N·m (8–10 ft-lbs) NOTE Failure to tighten screws alternately could cause a gap between endcap and muffler. | |
NOTICE Wipe all fingerprints off of exhaust system components after installation and before starting engine. Oil from hands can leave permanent marks on exhaust system finish. (00346a) | ||
| 6. | Repeat on other muffler. |
