Installation Requirements
This kit requires the separate purchase of LOCTITE 243 MEDIUM STRENGTH THREADLOCKER AND SEALANT (BLUE) (99642-97).
This kit will fit air cleaners equipped with Premium Air Filters (part numbers 29400358 and 29400359).
WARNINGRider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00333b)
NOTE
This instruction sheet references service manual information. A service manual for this year/model motorcycle is required for this installation. One is available from a Harley-Davidson dealer.
REMOVAL
| 1. | Remove main fuse. See service manual. | |
| 2. | Remove air cleaner cover, if equipped, from air cleaner. |
INSTALLATION
| 1. | Apply threadlocker to screw (1 or 2) depending on air filter used. LOCTITE 243 MEDIUM STRENGTH THREADLOCKER AND SEALANT (BLUE) (99642-97) | |
| 2. | Assemble parts: a. Air filter 29400358: Place short screw (1), through air cleaner cover (3), insert (4) (optional) and spacer (5). b. Air filter 29400359: Place long screw (2), through air cleaner cover (3) and insert (4) (optional). NOTE Air filter 29400359 has functional filtration on the face of the filter, omitting the use of insert (4) will ensure optimal performance. | |
| 3. | Place the assembly in position and install screw. Tighten. Torque: 4.1–6.8 N·m (36–60 in-lbs) | |
| 4. | Install main fuse. See service manual. | |
| 5. | If removing the Original Equipment (OE) intake you must apply the provided Warning Label in a clearly visible area. We suggest attaching the sticker to the following: a. Touring/Trike: Right side battery cover or inner primary b. Softail: Right side steer head casting |
