Electrical Overload

NOTICE

It is possible to overload the vehicle's charging system by adding too many electrical accessories. If the combined electrical accessories operating at any one time consume more electrical current than the vehicle's charging system can produce, the electrical consumption can discharge the battery and cause damage to the vehicle's electrical system. WARNING

When installing any electrical accessory, be certain not to exceed the maximum amperage rating of the fuse or circuit breaker protecting the affected circuit being modified. Exceeding the maximum amperage can lead to electrical failures, which could result in death or serious injury. (00310a)

At 13.5V, the current draw is 169mA. The current draw may vary up to 241mA dependent on battery voltage.

Additional Parts Required

LOCTITE 243 MEDIUM STRENGTH THREADLOCKER AND SEALANT (BLUE) (99642-97) is available from a Harley-Davidson dealer

PREPARATION

1.	Remove main fuse. See service manual.
2.	Remove front turn signals. See service manual.
3.	Remove and retain the lenses and mounting ball hardware from existing turn signals.

INSTALLATION

See Figure 3. Two of the wires are already connected to the socket housing, refer to following steps based on vehicle specifications:

Domestic: Insert the loose terminal on the end of the wire into the cavity of the socket housing: Blue turn signal wire to Cavity 1, see Figure 2. Install the seal plug (1) in the unused slot of the connector housing.

International: Install the seal plugs (1) in the unused slots of the connector housing. Place the heat shrink (5) over the blue turn signal wire terminal and apply heat.

ALL Models:

3.	Assemble the mounting ball hardware and lenses on new turn signal assemblies.
4.	Apply threadlocker to the screws removed earlier.LOCTITE 243 MEDIUM STRENGTH THREADLOCKER AND SEALANT (BLUE) (99642-97)
5.	Install the screws. Tighten. Torque: 4.5–5.4 N·m (40–48 in-lbs) NOTE Over tightening screws can crack the lens.
6.	Route wiring through the handlebars.
7.	See Figure 1. Connect right front turn signal connector [31R] (4) and left front turn signal connector [31L] (6).
8.	Install fuse. See the service manual.

WARNING

Be sure that all lights and switches operate properly before operating motorcycle. Low visibility of rider can result in death or serious injury. (00316a)

BCM Programming Process

1.	See the service manual. Follow procedure for clearing BCM codes.
2.	Program the BCM. The BCM can self-learn if LED turn signals are installed when the Hazards are active after the LED installation. Activate hazards for at least 20 seconds (or to a count of 12 flashes). After 12 flashes of the Hazards the setting is updated in the BCM.
3.	Turn the ignition key switch to IGNITION, but do not start the vehicle. Test lights and verify turn, brake and run lights operate as expected.
4.	See the service manual. Verify that there are no BCM codes. If codes display, see the service manual. Follow procedure for clearing BCM codes.
