WARNING
Rider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. NOTE
This instruction sheet refers to service manual information. A service manual for this year/model motorcycle is required for this installation and is available from a Harley-Davidson dealer.
Electrical Overload
NOTICE
It is possible to overload the vehicle's charging system by adding too many electrical accessories. If the combined electrical accessories operating at any one time consume more electrical current than the vehicle's charging system can produce, the electrical consumption can discharge the battery and cause damage to the vehicle's electrical system. (00211d)
WARNING
When installing any electrical accessory, be certain not to exceed the maximum amperage rating of the fuse or circuit breaker protecting the affected circuit being modified. Exceeding the maximum amperage can lead to electrical failures, which could result in death or serious injury. (00310a)
At 13.5V, the current draw is 169mA. The current draw may vary up to 241mA dependent on batter voltage.
PREPARATION
WARNING
To prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, remove main fuse before proceeding. (00251b)
  1. Remove main fuse. See the service manual.

RETURN TO SERVICE
NOTE
Verify that the ignition key switch is in the OFF position before installing the main fuse or attaching the negative battery cable.

WARNING
Be sure that all lights and switches operate properly before operating motorcycle. Low visibility of rider can result in death or serious injury. (00316a)
BCM Programming Process
2. See service manual. Follow procedure for clearing BCM codes.
3. Program the BCM. The BCM can self-learn if LED turn signals are installed when the Hazards are active after the LED installation. Activate hazards for at least 20 seconds (or to a count of 12 flashes). After 12 flashes of the Hazards the setting is updated in the BCM.
4. Turn the ignition key switch to IGNITION, but do not start the vehicle. Test lights and verify turn, brake and run lights operate as expected.
5. See service manual. Verify that there are no BCM codes. If codes display, see the service manual. Follow procedure for clearing BCM codes.
6. Position the tail lamp lens and install the screws. Tighten.
Torque: 4.5–5.4 N·m (40–48 in-lbs)
NOTE
Over tightening screws can crack the lens.
