Installation Requirements
WARNINGRider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit.
If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation.
Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00308b)
WARNINGDo not install these seat kits on motorcycles that are not equipped with an appropriate grab strap and passenger footpegs. If footpegs and grab strap are not installed, passenger could fall from moving motorcycle or grab onto operator, causing loss of control and death or serious injury. (00410b)
A passenger footpeg kit is required for models without footpegs installed.
REMOVAL
NOTE
Avoid scratching the paint surfaces during the removal and installation of the seat.
| 1. | See Figure 1. Remove the original tail section cowl (1) cover by lifting up on the back end of the cowl. Rotate the cowl off of the post and remove it from the vehicle. |

INSTALLATION
| 1. | See Figure 2. Remove the two rear mounting screws for the rider seat. | |
| 2. | Kits 52400186 and 52400204: discard the screws, Kit 52400196: retain screws for reuse. | |
| 3. | Install the grab strap (2), washers (4) and screws (3) in place of the original rear seat mounting screws. | |
| 4. | Secure two screws. Tighten. Torque: 10–12 N·m (7–9 ft-lbs) screws | |
| 5. | Install the pillion (1) by hooking the front tab under the mating feature on the rider seat, aligning the post and grommet and pressing down on the rear of the pillion to engage the post grommet. |
