A service manual for the year and model motorcycle is available from a Harley-Davidson dealer.
INSTALLATION
Remove Original Equipment (OE) Exhaust Shields
- See Figure 1. Note the position of the OE clamp screws (1) securing the exhaust shield (2) to the exhaust pipe. Remove the exhaust shield.
Install Exhaust Shields
| 1. | Remove the clamps from the exhaust shield and save for installations. | |
| 2. | Install the OE clamps to the new exhaust shield making sure they are positioned as shown in Figure 1. | |
| 3. | Loosely position and install the exhaust shield. | |
NOTICE Wipe all fingerprints off of exhaust system components after installation and before starting engine. Oil from hands can leave permanent marks on exhaust system finish. (00346a) | ||
| 4. | Secure the clamp screws. Tighten. Torque: 2.3–4.5 N·m (20–40 in-lbs) |
