Installation Requirements
WARNINGRider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00333b)
NOTE
This instruction sheet refers to service manual information. A service manual for your year/model motorcycle is required for this installation. One is available from a Harley-Davidson dealer.
PREPARE
WARNINGTo prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, remove main fuse before proceeding. (00251b)
| 1. | Remove main fuse. See service manual. |
REMOVE
| 1. | Remove Original Equipment (OE) cylinder heads, cylinders and pistons. See service manual. | |
| 2. | Retain OE cylinder heads and related parts. |
INSTALL
| 1. | Install Screamin' Eagle® (SE) Milwaukee-Eight™ pistons, cylinders and OE cylinder heads. See service manual. | |
| 2. | Torque cylinder head nut: a. Apply new engine oil underneath the flange of head bolt. Tighten. Torque: 27.1–40.6 N·m (20–30 ft-lbs) b. Loosen one full turn. Torque: 360° c. Tighten. Torque: 12.2–14.9 N·m (9–11 ft-lbs) d. Tighten. Torque: 24.4–27.1 N·m (18–20 ft-lbs) e. Tighten to final degree value. Torque: 90° |
