Installation Requirements
WARNING
Rider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00308b)
NOTE
This instruction sheet references service manual information. A service manual for the year and model motorcycle is required for this installation and is available from:

  • Separate purchase of Handlebar End Cap (Part No. 55801095, 55900246, 55900247 or 55900248) is required for installation.
REMOVE
For All Models Except RA1250S:
1. See Figure 2. Remove Original Equipment (OE) bar end mirror.
a. Remove and discard screw (1).
b. Remove and discard mirror base (2).
2. Install handlebar end caps. Refer to Installation Requirements.
3. See Figure 3. Remove OE screws (4) and clamp half (3) from clutch and front master cylinder. Save screws (4) for later use.

For Model RA1250S:
1. See Figure 3. Loosen mirror nut (2) and remove mirror.
2. Leave end caps and mirror half clamps on vehicle.
INSTALL
NOTE
  • Clutch lever clamp half has number 36700236 imprinted on component.
  • Left mirror has right hand threads. Right mirror has left hand threads.
For All Models Except RA1250S:
1. See Figure 3. Install new clamp half (3).
2. Position hand control as needed.
3. Install screws (4). Do not tighten completely.
a. Fully seat and tighten top screw (4).
Torque: 7–9 N·m (62–80 in-lbs)
b. Fully seat and tighten bottom screw (4).
Torque: 7–9 N·m (62–80 in-lbs)
4. Install mirror.
a. Install mirror nut (2) onto mirror stem until loosely seated.
b. Loosely install mirror (1) into clamp half (3).
c. Adjust mirror stem (1) position.
d. Tighten mirror nut (2) against clamp half (3). Careful not to damage nut finished surface.
Torque: 12–14 N·m (106–124 in-lbs)
5. Repeat procedure for opposite side.

For model RA1250S:
1. See Figure 3. Install mirror.
a. Install mirror nut (2) onto mirror stem until loosely seated.
b. Loosely install mirror (1) into clamp half (3).
c. Adjust mirror stem (1) position.
d. Tighten mirror nut (2) against clamp half (3). Careful not to damage nut finished surface.
Torque: 12–14 N·m (106–124 in-lbs)
