Installation Requirements
WARNINGRider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00333b)
NOTE
This instruction sheet refers to service manual information. A service manual for your year/model motorcycle is required for this installation. One is available from a Harley-Davidson dealer.
PREPARE
WARNINGTo prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, remove main fuse before proceeding. (00251b)
| 1. | Remove main fuse. See service manual. |
REMOVE
| 1. | Refer to ENGINE section of service manual to remove cylinder heads, cylinders and pistons. a. Retain original equipment (OE) cylinder heads and related parts. |
INSTALLATION
NOTE
Do not use cylinder head flange nut torque procedure from service manual.
| 1. | Install Screamin' Eagle Milwaukee-Eight Pistons, Cylinders and the OE Cylinder Heads per the service manual ENGINE section. | |
| 2. | Tighten cylinder head flange nuts. a. Torque. Torque: 27.1–40.6 N·m (20–30 ft-lbs) b. Loosen one turn. Angle: -360° c. Torque. Torque: 12.2–14.9 N·m (9–11 ft-lbs) d. Torque. Torque: 24.2–27.1 N·m (18–20 ft-lbs) e. Final torque, tighten additional 90°. | |
| 3. | Test ride vehicle to check for proper installation and operation. |
