Installation Requirements
    These part are available at a Harley Davidson dealership:
  • Separate purchase of Outer Primary Cover (25700937) or (25700941).
  • Separate purchase of Inner Primary Cover (36500105).
  • Separate purchase of Gasket Kit (25701079).
  • Separate purchase of Gasket (63869-06).
  • Separate purchase of Bushing (34982-02A).
WARNING
Rider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00333b)
NOTE
This instruction sheet references service manual information. A service manual for the year and model motorcycle is required for this installation and is available from:
PREPARE
1. Set vehicle upright. See service manual.
REMOVE
1. See Figure 3. Remove footpeg.
a. Remove E-clip (2) using special tool.

Special Tool: E-CLIP TOOL (HD-52369)

b. Remove clevis pin (5).
c. Remove footpeg (3).
d. Remove torsion spring (4).
2. Disconnect shifter connecting rod from transmission gear shift lever.
3. See Figure 2. Remove foot support bracket.
a. Remove screws (2).
b. Remove foot support bracket (1).
4. Remove outer and inner primary covers. See service manual.

INSTALL
Front Shifter Rod Lever
1. See Figure 4. Install front shifter rod lever (1) onto lever shaft (10).
2. Install pinch screw (11). Tighten.
Torque: 24.4–29.8 N·m (216–264 in-lbs) Front shifter rod lever pinch screw
3. Install bushing (34982-02A) in new inner primary with hole. See service manual.
4. Install front shifter rod lever (7) with shaft (10) through new inner primary cover.
5. Install inner primary cover with new gasket. See service manual.
6. Assemble primary drive components. See service manual.
7. Install new outer primary cover with hole and new gaskets. See service manual.
Shifter Rod
1. See Figure 4. Install shifter rod.
a. Install shifter rod (3) to each shifter rod lever (1, 2).
b. Install screws (4). Tighten.
Torque: 13.6–19 N·m (120–168 in-lbs)
Foot Support Bracket
1. See Figure 5. Install foot support bracket.
a. Install foot support bracket (1).
b. Install screws (2). Tighten.
Torque: 54–61 N·m (40–45 ft-lbs)
2. Install plug into empty hole in vehicle frame.

NOTE
When installing E-clip, use E-clip tool to help prevent damage to painted surfaces.
See Figure 3. Install footpeg removed earlier.
a. Insert short leg of torsion spring (4) into hole in footpeg (3).
b. Insert long leg of torsion spring (4) into hole in foot support bracket (6).
c. Rotate footpeg into position.
d. Install clevis pin (5).
e. Install E-clip (2).

Foot Shift Lever
NOTE
Foot shift lever peg height is a customer preference. During installation, check operation of shift lever. To achieve proper gear engagement and to avoid damage to transmission, the peg must not contact foortboard or supports when shifting.
1. See Figure 1. Install shifter peg (14) and screw (15) to foot shift lever (1). Tighten.
Torque: 10.8–16.2 N·m (8–12 ft-lbs)
2. See Figure 4. Install spacer (8) onto lever shaft (10).
3. See Figure 4. Install foot shift lever.
a. Install foot shift lever (7) onto lever shaft (10).
b. Position shifter peg at preferred height.
c. Install pinch screw (5), washer (6) and nut (9).
d. Tighten.
Torque: 32.5–38 N·m (24–28 ft-lbs) Foot shift lever pinch screw

NOTE
  • Shifter rod should not require adjustment under normal circumstances. However, if full gear engagement or full lever travel is not achieved, adjust shifter rod.
  • Do not allow shift lever to contact support bracket when shifting. This prevents proper gear engagement. Contact may also damage the transmission.
See Figure 4. Adjust shifter rod.
a. Disconnect forward end of shifter rod from forward shifter rod lever.
b. Loosen jamnuts.
c. Adjust shifter rod (3) as necessary.
d. Secure shifter rod (3) to front shifter rod lever (1). Tighten.
Torque: 13.6–19 N·m (120–168 in-lbs)
e. Tighten jamnuts.
Torque: 9.5–14.9 N·m (84–132 in-lbs)
