REMOVE
1. See Figure 2. Pull both detent levers (3) rearward from locked position (2), against compression spring (8).
2. Rotate detent levers upward while pulling on levers.
a. As levers rotate upward, latch noses (4) are forced against rear docking points (Figure 2, item 13).
b. This raises rear of backrest side plates (6) out of docking points.
3. Release detent levers.
a. Springs (8) will move each lever back into unlocked position (1).
4. Pull backrest side plates away from front shock docking points. Do not exceed angle shown in Figure 2.
5. Remove backrest from vehicle.
INSTALL
1. See Figure 1. Position right (8) and left (7) latch levers in unlocked position.
a. See Figure 2. Pull both detent levers (3) rearward against compression spring (8 not visible).
b. Rotate levers upward so each latch nose (4) is positioned inside lower rear notch (9) of side plate (6).
c. Each detent pin (7) is now located in uppermost (unlocked position) notch.
d. Compression spring (8) inside detent lever holds latch (5) in unlocked position.
2. Push side plate front notches (10), with grommets (11) in place, firmly and evenly into front shock docking points (12).
3. Swing rear of backrest side plates (6) downward toward rear docking points (13).
a. As side plates (6) move down, latches make contact with plastic surface of rear docking points.
4. As docking points contact latches, each latch nose (4) is forced upward.
a. This causes pin (7) to move down into lowermost (2-locked) position on side plate.
b. Springs (8) lock each latch firmly in place around rear docking points.
c. You should hear an audible click as latches engage docking points.
5. Make sure that detent pins (7) are fully seated against side plates (6).
a. If not fully seated, push detent lever (3) forward.
b. If still not fully seated, docking point may need to be rotated. See Docking Hardware Kit instructions.
