Installation Requirements
WARNING
Rider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00333b)

This instruction sheet references service manual information. A service manual for the year and model motorcycle is required for this installation and is available from:

  • Do not exceed 4 lbs (1.8 kg) total weight contents and attachments.
  • Verify that all straps are secured.
  • Periodically recheck load.
WARNING
Do not exceed the motorcycle's Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR). Exceeding these weight ratings can lead to component failure and adversely affect stability, handling and performance, which could result in death or serious injury. (00016f)
  • GVWR is the total weight of the motorcycle, accessories, rider, passenger and cargo that can be safely carried.
  • GAWR is the maximum amount of weight that can be safely carried on one axle.
  • GVWR and GAWR are shown on the information plate, located on the frame downtube.
REMOVE
1. Remove tank trim. See service manual.
NOTE
Do not disconnect male/female connectors when performing the following step.
2. See Figure 2. Relocate harness connector (1) away from carrier caddy to gain access to screws (2).
3. See Figure 3. Remove Original Equipment (OE) screws (2) from carrier caddy. Discard.

INSTALL
1. See Figure 3. Install mounting bracket (1).
a. Secure with new screws (2). Tighten.
Torque: 8–10 N·m (5.9–7.4 ft-lbs)
b. Install harness connector on carrier caddy.
c. Install tank trim. See service manual.
2. See Figure 4. Install strap between vehicle frame and wrapped cover.
3. Insert end of strap with quick-release buckle into loop at other end of strap.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for other side.
5. Install tank bag on top cover.
6. Secure tank bag to front bracket.
7. See Figure 5 and Figure 6. Secure two mounting straps to back of tank bag by connecting quick release buckles.
8. Pull straps tight to secure bag.
9. Check that bag is securely fastened to vehicle.
10. See Figure 6. Secure any excess strap length using strap bungee (3).
11. Stow excess straps underneath seat when bag is removed from vehicle.
NOTE
Zipper pulls have loops so that a small lock can be used for added security.

RAIN COVER
1. Pull over rain cover entire bag.
2. Pull draw string at bottom of cover to tighten and secure with barrel lock.
3. Make sure rain cover is tucked completely under tank bag.

MAINTENANCE
1. Use a lint free cloth to wipe off any dust or dirt.
2. Thoroughly clean outer surface with warm water and a mild detergent.
3. Allow material to dry naturally and completely before use or storage.
4. Do not use washing machine or dryer.
5. Do not use artificial means to dry material quickly.
6. Contains one or more of the following materials:
a. Polyester
b. Polypropylene
c. POM
d. EPDM Rubber
e. Vinyl
