Installation Requirements
WARNING
Rider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00333b)
NOTE
This instruction sheet references service manual information. A service manual for the year and model motorcycle is required for this installation and is available from:
REMOVE
1. Remove passenger footboards. See service manual.
2. Retain ball and spring for later use.
INSTALL
1. Install footboard supports unless currently installed.
NOTE
Footboards are side-specific. Install with wider portion forward on vehicle.
2. See Figure 1. Place previously removed spring into retaining hole (1) in footboard support (2).
3. Place previously removed ball on top of spring.
4. Position footrest (3) onto footboard support bracket (2), while being careful not to unseat ball.
5. Press down on footrest (3) so holes align.
6. Insert footboard mounting pins (4) through footrest and two mounting lugs on footboard support.
7. Check that ball is seated in detent at underside of footrest.
8. Tighten mounting pins.
Torque: 16.3–20 N·m (12–15 ft-lbs)
9. Repeat previous step on opposite side.
