Installation Requirements

WARNING

Rider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00333b)

WARNING

Do not exceed 4 lbs (1.8 kg) total weight contents and attachments.
Verify that all straps are secured.
Periodically recheck load.

WARNING

Do not exceed the motorcycle's Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR). Exceeding these weight ratings can lead to component failure and adversely affect stability, handling and performance, which could result in death or serious injury. (00016f)

GVWR is the total weight of the motorcycle, accessories, rider, passenger and cargo that can be safely carried.
GAWR is the maximum amount of weight that can be safely carried on one axle.
GVWR and GAWR are shown on the information plate, located on the frame downtube.

PREPARE

Remove seat. See owner's manual.

REMOVE

1.	See Figure 2. Remove acorn nut (4).
2.	Remove screw (1).
3.	Discard bracket trim (5) pieces and washers (6).

INSTALL

1.	See Figure 2. Install right and left brackets (2, 3).
2.	Install screw (1) and acorn nut (4). Tighten. Torque: 38–43.5 N·m (28–32 ft-lbs) Fuel tank acorn nut a. Make sure there is clearance between the brackets and tank when hardware is tightened. b. Rotate steering from lock to lock making sure there is no interference.
3.	See Figure 3. Install loop end of strap (3) over hook end of bracket (5).
4.	Route flat end of strap (3) through triglide (2) on tank bag (if not already installed). a. Do not tighten strap at this time. b. Triglides (2) should be routed inside elastic loops.
5.	Repeat procedure for opposite side.
6.	See Figure 4. Route loop end of strap (4) between seat tang (3) and frame.
7.	Route flat end of strap (4) with male buckle through the loop end of strap (4). a. Pull on male buckle end to tighten strap down. b. Make sure strap is positioned above the seat tang when tightened. See Figure 5. c. Make sure strap is as flat as possible along surface of fuel tank or trim.
8.	See Figure 4. Install male end of buckle (4) to female buckle (1) that is attached to tank bag. NOTE DO NOT block instrument module. a. Test fit tank bag in desired position. NOTE Use protective tape on models that do not have a tank console or trim that extend under nose of seat. b. See Figure 5. Install protective tape on fuel tank under buckle (1) of rear strap. Clean surface with a 50:50 mix of Isopropyl alcohol and water before applying.
9.	Position tank bag to desired location.
10.	See Figure 3. Pull flat end of straps (2) tight to secure bag.
11.	See Figure 4. Pull flat end of strap (4) tight to secure bag. a. Close clasp to lock strap (4) in place.
12.	Check that bag is securely fastened to vehicle.
13.	Secure any excess strap length. a. Rotate steering from lock to lock making sure there is no interference.

COMPLETE

Install seat. See owner's manual.

RAIN COVER

1.	See Figure 6. Pull rain cover over entire bag.
2.	Pull draw string at bottom of cover to tighten and secure with barrel lock.
3.	Make sure rain cover is tucked completely under tank bag.

REMOVE BAG

1.	Loosen front straps.
2.	Disconnect buckle on rear strap.
3.	Remove front straps from brackets.

MAINTENANCE

1.	Use a lint free cloth to wipe off any dust or dirt.
2.	Thoroughly clean outer surface with warm water and a mild detergent.
3.	Allow material to dry naturally and completely before use or storage.
4.	Do not use washing machine or dryer.
5.	Do not use artificial means to dry material quickly.
6.	Contains one or more of the following materials: a. Polyester b. Polypropylene c. Polyvinyl chloride d. Ethylene vinyl acetate
