Installation Requirements
WARNINGRider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit.
If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation.
Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00308b)
REMOVE
| 1. | If equipped with Tour-Pak, remove rear reflector mounting plate from Tour-Pak support. |
INSTALL
License Plate Frame
| 1. | Kit 67900645:See Figure 2. Install license plate frame (5) over license plate when attaching to vehicle's license plate mount. | |
| 2. | Secure using screws (1), washers (2), washers (3) and nuts (4). a. Tour-Pak mount: Washers (3) are not installed on upper fasteners. | |
| 3. | Kit 67900653:See Figure 2. Install license plate frame (5) using appropriate screws, nuts and washers when attaching to vehicle's license plate mount. |
Reflector
WARNINGFederal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 108 requires motorcycles to be equipped with rear and side reflectors. Be sure rear and side reflectors are properly mounted. Poor visibility of rider to other motorists can result in death or serious injury. (00336b)
NOTE
Ambient temperature should be at least 60°F (16°C) for proper adhesion of reflector assembly to rear fender.
| 1. | Install reflector on Tour-Pak vehicles only. | |
| 2. | See Figure 2. Install reflector (6) approximately 50.8 mm (2 in) (7) from bottom of tail lamp (8). | |
| 3. | Clean rear fender area with a mixture of 50 to 70% isopropyl alcohol and 30 to 50% distilled water. a. Allow to dry completely. | |
| 4. | Before removing adhesive backing, test fit reflector to fender, centered from left to right, so reflector is parallel to tail lamp. a. Mark final location. | |
| 5. | Peel liner from adhesive backing of reflector assembly. | |
| 6. | Carefully position reflector to rear fender. | |
| 7. | Press firmly in place. | |
| 8. | Hold reflector (6) in position with steady pressure for one minute to permit proper adhesion. |
NOTE
- Allow AT LEAST 24 hours after applying reflector before exposing area to vigorous washing, strong water spray or extreme weather.
- Adhesive bond will increase to maximum strength after about 72 hours at normal room temperature.
