Installation Requirements
WARNING
Rider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00333b)
NOTE
This instruction sheet references service manual information. A service manual for the year and model motorcycle is required for this installation and is available from:
PREPARE
1. Remove left saddlebag. See service manual.
2. Remove left side cover. See service manual.
3. Remove main fuse. See service manual.
REMOVE
Left Hand Grip
1. See Figure 2. Remove clutch lever assembly.
a. Remove rubber boot (5) from connector.
b. Disconnect clutch switch connector (4).
c. Remove screws (1).
d. Remove washers (2).
e. Remove clutch lever assembly (3).
2. See Figure 3. Remove left control module cover.
a. Alignment screw (4) (do not remove).
b. Remove screws (3).
c. Remove cover (2).
3. See Figure 4. Remove hand grip.
a. Remove left control module (5) from handlebar.
b. Remove hand grip (4).

NOTE
Do not allow master cylinder to be positioned upside down.
1. See Figure 5. Remove brake lever assembly.
a. Remove rubber boot (3) from connector.
b. Disconnect brake switch connector (4).
c. Remove screws (2).
d. Remove washers (1).
e. Remove brake lever bracket (5).
2. See Figure 6. Remove right control module cover.
a. Remove screws (1).
b. Remove cover (2).
3. See Figure 7. Remove hand grip.
a. Open wire bridge (4).
b. Disconnect connectors.
c. Remove hand grip while sliding whole control module assembly.

INSTALL
NOTE
  • Do not allow master cylinder to be positioned upside down.
  • When routing and closing Right and Left Hand Control Modules (R&LHCMs), verify there are no pinched wires. See service manual.
NOTE
Do not remove alignment screw.
  1. Align alignment screw (4) with alignment hole in handlebar.
  2. Verify alignment screw is properly engaged into hole in handle bar.
NOTE
Failure to do this may result in damage to cover.
Control Housing Alignment
Some models have alignment features in the handlebars and control modules. Do not remove alignment features. Left side has a screw (4), Figure 3 and right side has a post (4), Figure 7.
  1. Align these features with the hole in the handlebar.
  2. Verify alignment feature is properly engaged with the hole in the handlebar.
Other models and accessory handlebars have alignment dots, Figure 8. If accessory handlebars, adjust position of switch housing and brake lever assembly on handlebar for rider comfort.
  1. Handlebars without weld: See Figure 8. Install clamp against dots on handlebar, keeping clamp slot between the two dots (2) or line (1).
  2. Handlebars with weld: See Figure 8. Install clamp against weld, keeping clamp slot between the two dots (2) or line (1).
Failure to align properly may result in damage to the rear cover or wire pinching.

Left Hand Grip
1. See Figure 4. Assemble hand grip and Left Hand Control Module (LHCM).
a. Install hand grip groove (3) into LHCM (5).
b. Install hand grip (4).
c. Install left control module (5) to handlebar.
d. Route clutch switch wires (1) through wire guide slot (2).
2. See Figure 3. Install left control module cover.
a. Guide clutch switch cable (1) through cover opening (5).
b. Install cover (2). Verify alignment screw (4) is properly engaged into hole in handle bar.
c. Install screws (3). Tighten.
Torque: 4–5 N·m (35–44 in-lbs) DO NOT over tighten.
3. See Figure 2. Install clutch lever assembly.
NOTE
Carefully install clutch lever to not damage the clutch switch. See service manual.
a. Install clutch lever assembly (3).
b. Install washers (2) and screws (1).
c. Tighten top screw.
Torque: 10–11 N·m (89–97 in-lbs) Top screw
d. Tighten lower screw.
Torque: 10–11 N·m (89–97 in-lbs) Lower screw
e. Connect clutch switch connector (4).
f. Install rubber boot (5) over connector.
Right Hand Grip
1. See Figure 7. Install hand grip.
a. Install hand grip (1) in groove (2) of control module assembly.
b. Slide control module assembly with hand grip to handlebar.
c. Make sure hand grip slot (3) is positioned correctly.
d. Connect connectors.
e. Close wire bridge (4) and align pin with handlebar slot.
f. Route wires through cover support (5).
2. See Figure 6. Install right control module cover.
a. Install cover (2).
b. Install screws (1).
Torque: 4–5 N·m (35–44 in-lbs)
3. See Figure 5. Install brake lever assembly.
a. Install brake lever assembly (5).
NOTE
When installing Right Hand Control Module (RHCM), verify throttle end play is set correctly. See service manual.
b. Install washers (1) and screws (2).
c. Tighten top screw.
Torque: 10–11 N·m (89–97 in-lbs) Top screw
d. Tighten lower screw.
Torque: 10–11 N·m (89–97 in-lbs) Lower screw
e. Connect brake switch connector (4).
f. Install rubber boot (3) over connector.
COMPLETE
1. Install main fuse. See service manual.
2. Install left side cover. See service manual.
3. Install left saddlebag. See service manual.
