Installation Requirements
WARNING
Rider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00333b)
NOTE
This instruction sheet references service manual information. A service manual for the year and model motorcycle is required for this installation and is available from:

  • Separate purchase of Classic Saddlebag (Part No. 90202530) or Modern Saddlebag (Part No. 90202531) is required for this installation.
PREPARE
1. See Figure 1. Install protective tape (4) on swingarm.
a. See Figure 2. Position mounting bracket (1) to front of swingarm.
b. Mark location of where to install protective tape.
c. Remove mounting bracket (1).
d. Clean area with 50/50 distilled water and isopropyl alcohol mix.
NOTE
Make sure when installing protective tape that it covers the area of mating parts.
e. Peel backing from protective tape (2) and install to swingarm.

INSTALL
1. See Figure 3. Position mounting bracket (2) on swingarm.
2. See Figure 4. Install washers (2) to screws (1).
NOTE
To know which set of holes to install the screws (1), reference Isheet from Saddlebag kit.
3. Gain access to saddlebag back panel (3).
4. Align holes in back panel (3) with mounting bracket.
5. Install screws (1). Tighten in crossing pattern.
Torque: 5.7–6.3 N·m (50–56 in-lbs)
