Installation Requirements
Seat cowl is only compatible with Touring solo seats. It does not fit with 2up seats and requires reuse of existing pillion thumb screw or separate purchase of pillion thumb screw if vehicle does not already have one.
WARNING
Rider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00333b)
NOTE
This instruction sheet references service manual information. A service manual for the year and model motorcycle is required for this installation and is available from:
PREPARE
1. Remove pillion assembly. See service manual.
INSTALL
NOTE
  • See Figure 2. Seat cowl bracket slots (5) fit into seat mount nuts (4) in this location.
  • Front of seat cowl to be properly engaged in mounting slots.
  • Seat cowl mounting tabs can not be resting on top of mounting posts.
1. Lift up rear cover of rider seat (6) to expose seat mount nuts (4).
2. Slide seat cowl (3) forward to engage it into seat mount nuts.
3. Install washer (2) and screw (1). Tighten.
Torque: 1–1.7 N·m (9–15 in-lbs) Seat cowl screw

CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Cowl is painted with a matte clear coat and they should not be polished as that would cause an irreparable glossy spot on the part and potentially remove the protective top coat.
