Installation Requirements
Separate purchase and installation of additional parts or accessories may be required for proper installation of this kit on your model motorcycle. See the P&A retail catalog or the Parts and Accessories section of www.harley-davidson.com (English only) for a list of required parts or accessories for your model.
Contact lubricant (Part No. 11300004) and Loctite® 262 Threadlocker and Sealant - Red (Part No. 94759-99 or 11100006) are required for proper installation of this kit.
WARNING
Rider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00308b)

See Figure 1 and Table 1.
INSTALLATION
Installation with Fixed Tour-Pak Bracket
1. Remove saddlebags from both sides.
2. Remove four screws, washers and nuts from Tour-Pak®. Remove Tour-Pak (A). If Tour-Pak comes with communication port mounted to underside of left speaker pod, remove cable and cable holder (D). Discard holder.
3. Place armrest support structure (5) on top of Tour-Pak bracket (B). Align slotted front holes in support structure with tapped holes.
4. Hold armrest clip (16) underneath right side of Tour-Pak bracket.
5. Loosely fasten right side of armrest support structure (5) with two screws (6), washers (9) and nuts (11). Repeat steps 4-5 for left side.
6. Tighten screws.
Torque: 10.8–13.6 N·m (96–120 in-lbs) 1/4-20 hex head cap screw.
7. Apply contact lubricant (Part No. 11300004) to left hand upper armrest clevis (2), and to top and bottom of armrest support structure (5).
8. Install the bushing (17) into armrest support structure (5). Install compression top hat (14) in lower armrest clevis (1) with the narrow side down.
NOTE
Take care to align disc spring, support structure, bushing and top hat so the shoulder bolt can be fully seated in armrest clevis.
9. Install armrest to bracket. Slide belleville disc spring (13), with cup side down, into top slot between armrest support structure (5) and armrest clevis (1).
10. Apply Loctite to threads only of shoulder bolt (15). Take care not to get Loctite on bolt shaft. Tighten bolt.
Torque: 13.5 N·m (10 ft-lbs) 5/16-18 thread, 3/16 in hex socket head shoulder bolt.
a. If arm is loose after torque procedure, disassemble and realign disc spring support structure bushing and top hat. When properly installed, arm will show some resistance when rotated around shoulder bolt.
11. Install two O-rings (20) into the grooves on the mounting pin of the pad assembly (4).
12. Apply contact lubricant to tolerance ring (linear bearing, item 19) on pad assembly prior to installation.
13. Install left hand pad assembly (4) by carefully pushing pin into armrest. A slight back and forth rotation of pad may be required to get bearing surface on pin into tube receptacle of armrest.
14. Repeat steps 7-13 for right hand side.
15. Install the Tour-Pak. Place two thick spacers (7) on top of the rear bracket holes underneath the Tour-Pak. Insert screws (18) and washers (10) to the inside of the Tour-Pak. Thread screw loosely to bracket.
16. Move Tour-Pak to the rearward position to avoid the armrest rubbing on speaker pod. Lay thin spacers (8) on the front holes of the armrest plate. Install washer and screw through Tour-Pak into the spacer and armrest plate. Tighten screws.
Torque: 10.8–13.6 N·m (96–120 in-lbs) 1/4-20 hex head cap screw.
17. There will be a loose communication cable on the left side of the motorcycle. Install the P-clamp (12) over the cable. Remove the front left saddlebag support screw. Use this screw to attach the P-clamp and cable to saddlebag support bracket.
18. Install saddlebags.
INSTALLATION
Installation with Detachable Tour-Pak Bracket
1. Remove saddlebags from both sides.
2. Remove four screws, washers and nuts from Tour-Pak®. Remove Tour-Pak (A).
3. Place two thick spacers (7) on top of the rear detachable bracket (C) holes underneath the Tour-Pak.
4. Insert screws (18) and washers (10) to the inside of the Tour-Pak. Thread loosely through the bracket using lock nuts (11).
5. Carefully lift the front of the Tour-Pak. Slide armrest support structure (5) between Tour-Pak and Tour-Pak support bracket, aligning front slot with holes in front of Tour-Pak bottom.
6. Insert two thin spacers (8) between Tour-Pak and armrest support structure.
7. Install washer and screw through Tour-Pak into the spacer and armrest plate. Tighten screws.
Torque: 10.8–13.6 N·m (96–120 in-lbs) 1/4-20 hex head cap screw.
8. Apply contact lubricant (Part No. 11300004) to left hand upper armrest clevis (1), and to top and bottom of armrest support structure (5).
NOTE

15. Install saddlebags. Question for reviewers: Shouldn't instructions to reinstall the Tour-Pak go before the saddlebag installation? Do they differ from steps 15-17 under fixed bracket instruction?
IN USE
NOTE
*If the pad assembly becomes loose over time and through normal use, replace both linear bearings (Part No. 12600089) (19) and O-Ring Service Kit (Part No. 11900037) (20).
*Check torque every service interval. Tighten as required. An Armrest Service Kit (Part No. 91800041) (21) is available if adequate torque cannot be achieved due to normal wear of rotating parts.
