Separate purchase of LOCTITE® 271 Threadlocker and Sealant - Red is required for proper installation of this kit. LOCTITE can be purchased from any Harley-Davidson Dealer.

INSTALLATION
NOTE
When removing footpeg mounting screws, use a 10-inch or longer extension to avoid damaging cosmetic surfaces.
1. See Figure 1. Remove right side footpeg mount screw securing footpeg mount to frame. Save screw for installation.
2. Support the brake pedal assembly and pull footpeg through brake pedal and remove footpeg.
3. See Figure 2. Rotate the brake lever back 90 degrees to ease cotter pin removal.
4. Remove the cotter pin securing the clevis pin in the brake lever and the master cylinder pushrod. Discard the cotter pin.
5. Remove the clevis pin. If necessary, gently tap on the pin to remove. Inspect the clevis pin and replace if worn or damaged.

6. Orient the brake lever (from kit) as shown. Install the clevis pin through the brake lever and master cylinder pushrod. Tap the clevis pin gently and make sure the head is against the brake lever. Install new cotter pin. Rotate the brake lever 90 degrees into the riding position.
WARNING
Footrests must fold up and toward rear of motorcycle if struck. Failure to set footrests to fold up and back could result in death or serious injury. (00366a)
7. See Figure 3. Slide footpeg through the opening in brake lever and frame. Make sure footpeg is oriented so it will fold upward and rearward.
8. Apply a few drops of Loctite 271 onto threads of footpeg mounting screw (removed earlier). Install footpeg mount to the frame. Tighten screw to 14 N·m (10 ft-lbs).
WARNING
After repairing the brake system, test brakes at low speed. If brakes are not operating properly, testing at high speeds can cause loss of control, which could result in death or serious injury. (00289a)
9. Test ride and check rear brake for proper operation.
