ASSESSMENT
  1. Interview customer if present.
    1. Is EV behaving erratically?
    2. Has the EV been dropped?
    3. Has EV been in an Accident?
  2. If customer has indicated yes to any of the above questions, or customer is not present: Go To: Step 2.
    If customer has not indicated yes to any of the above questions, or has not indicated any unusual EV behavior, proceed with normal service intake. Go To: SET UP SERVICE.
  3. Visually inspect EV for following conditions.
    1. Is there any visible damage?
    2. Has EV been in an accident?
    3. Is battery leaking?
    4. Is battery hissing?
    5. Is battery smoking?
    6. Is battery making a crackling sound?
    7. Is there excessive heat in battery?
  4. If you notice any of conditions iii through vii, immediately evacuate the area and call emergency responders.
    If you notice conditions i or ii, immediately use your PPE. See Work Environment → Personal Protective Equipment. Always use PPE when handling any damaged EV until you have verified it is safe. Move EV to an isolation area and follow isolation procedures. See Rechargeable Energy Storage System (RESS) → Isolation and Observation.
    If none of the above conditions are noticed, proceed with normal service intake. Go To: SET UP SERVICE.
EV DROPPED
If the EV is dropped while at the dealership:

If no unusual conditions are present, follow standard shop procedures, including checking DTCs, then set up, service, and maintain the EV. When reviewing DTCs always use suggested PPE per the Electrical Diagnostics Manual before beginning any service procedure.
REMEMBER: Do not attempt to service the battery or it's connectors under any condition or circumstance.
