NOTICE
Some local governments prohibit or restrict the use of headset (helmet-mounted) speakers. Please check with local authorities and obey all applicable laws and regulations. (00173b)
Both the rider headset socket and the passenger headset socket require Harley-Davidson microphone headsets. Your Harley-Davidson dealer will help you select the correct Harley-Davidson headsets and microphones for your model Harley-Davidson. Other headset microphones will not work.
Open the socket cap and with the ridge on the headset jack facing upward insert the jack into either the front or rear headset socket.
NOTE
For areas that do not permit headset speakers, a special hand-held microphone can be used for the rider to transmit over the CB. This microphone is available through your Harley-Davidson dealer.
NOTICE
Do not pull on the cord to remove the headset from the socket. Pull on the headset jack to disconnect the headset from the socket. (00174a)
The spring loaded hinge keeps the headset socket cap from moving during vehicle operation. It protects against dirt and water when the headset or hand-held microphone is not in use. Before washing the motorcycle, verify that BOTH caps are closed.
