The rear brake foot pedal controls the rear wheel brake. It is located on the right side.
The front brake hand lever controls the front brake. It is located on the right handlebar.

Brakes should be applied uniformly and evenly to prevent wheels from locking up. A balance between rear and front braking is generally best.
