When vehicle is connected to a charging station, it engages a safety catch that locks the cord to the charge port until the catch is released. The catch is automatically release when the charging cycle is completed and the charging station shuts off.
In instances where a vehicle or charge station has been involved in an incident, the catch may not automatically release. The vehicle is equipped with an emergency release inside the top cover under the vehicle inlet/charge port.
1. Remove either side of the top cover by pulling up on the side and breaking the mounting tabs.
2. Locate the catch release lever located under the vehicle inlet/charge port. Use a long screwdriver or small rod to rotate lever until charge cord releases.
