The speed volume setting adjusts the volume according to vehicle speed. This function allows the volume to be set to a comfortable level while the motorcycle is stopped or traveling slowly. The volume automatically increases to compensate for engine, wind and other ambient noise factors as vehicle speed increases.
The speed volume setting affects the voice activation (VOX) of the intercom. This prevents ambient noise from activating VOX transmissions when at greater speeds. It also prevents the need to continually adjust the VOX sensitivity setting.
Speed volume is also known as automatic volume control (AVC) on previous Harley-Davidson sound systems.
