WARNING
The automatic-on headlamp feature provides increased visibility of the rider to other motorists. Be sure headlamp is on at all times. Poor visibility of rider to other motorists can result in death or serious injury. (00030b)
Check headlamp for proper height and lateral alignment:
1. Refer to Specifications → Specifications: 2005 VRSC Models → Tire Pressures: 2005 VRSC Models . Verify correct front and rear tire pressure.
2. Place motorcycle on level floor (or pavement) in an area with minimum light.
3. See Figure 1. Position motorcycle 7.6 m (25 ft) away from a screen or wall. Measure the vertical distance from center of headlamp to floor, and draw a horizontal line (2) 35 in. (0.9 m) on screen or wall at same height above floor.
4. Load vehicle with rider, passenger (if normally present) and any cargo. Weight will compress vehicle suspension slightly.
5. Stand motorcycle upright with both tires resting on floor and with front wheel held in straight alignment (directly forward).
6. See Figure 2. Turn ignition/seat release switch ON. Set handlebar headlamp switch to HIGH beam position.
7. Check lamp beam for alignment.
8. For VRSCB models, see Maintenance and Lubrication → HEADLAMP → Headlamp: VRSC Models . If adjustment is required:
a. Remove snap plug (5) on top of headlamp bracket.
b. Loosen headlamp clamp nut (6).
c. Tilt headlamp up or down to properly aim it in relation to the horizontal line and, at the same time, turn it right or left to direct light beam straight ahead.
d. Tighten headlamp clamp nut to 14–27 N·m (120–240 in-lbs) after lamp is properly positioned.
e. Install snap plug in headlamp bracket.
9. For VRSCA models, see Figure 3. If adjustment is required:
a. Loosen left and right fasteners.
b. Move headlamp assembly to adjust vertical alignment.
c. Tighten fasteners.
