See Figure 2. A unique 17-digit serial or Vehicle Identification Number (V.I.N.) is assigned to each motorcycle. For a description of each item in the V.I.N., refer to Table 1.
Location
See Figure 1. The full 17-digit V.I.N. is stamped on the right side of the frame on the steering head. In some destinations, a printed V.I.N. label is also attached to the left frame tube above the front engine cylinder.
Abbreviated V.I.N.
An abbreviated V.I.N. showing the vehicle model, engine type, model year, and sequential number is stamped on the left side of the crankcase below the rear cylinder head.

Always give the full 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number when ordering parts or making any inquiry about your motorcycle.
