1. | Remove the main fuse. See Maintenance and Lubrication → Fuses and Relays. | |
2. | See Maintenance and Lubrication → Headlamp Adjustment → Headlamp Alignment Fastener: VRSCDX Models. Loosen the headlamp alignment fastener and allow headlamp assembly to drop slightly forward. | |
3. | See Figure 1. Remove screws with washers from headlamp bucket retainer. Remove retainer and nacelle from headlamp. | |
4. | Remove trim ring hardware. Remove trim ring. | |
5. | Squeeze the release latches to remove the connector from the headlamp bulb. | |
6. | Remove the rubber boot from the back of the housing. | |
7. | See Figure 2. Push down the wireform loop to release it from the retainer. Swing wireform out of the way. | |
WARNING Handle bulb carefully and wear eye protection. Bulb contains gas under pressure, which, if not handled carefully, could cause serious eye injury. (00062b) | ||
8. | Remove and discard bulb. |
1. | Install new bulb. Align the tab on the bulb with the notch in the headlamp housing. | |
2. | See Figure 2. Rotate wireform into place and latch under lip of retainer. | |
3. | See Figure 1. Install rubber boot at back of housing. | |
4. | Install connector to headlamp bulb. | |
5. | Install trim ring and hardware. | |
6. | Install nacelle and headlamp bucket retainer. Install screws with washers and tighten to 3.4–5.6 N·m (30–50 in-lbs). | |
7. | Install the main fuse. | |

8. | Turn ignition on and check for proper operation. | |
9. | Align headlamp. See Maintenance and Lubrication → Headlamp Alignment. |
