WARNING
The automatic-on headlamp feature provides increased visibility of the rider to other motorists. Be sure headlamp is on at all times. Poor visibility of rider to other motorists can result in death or serious injury. (00030b)
NOTE
The alignment procedure for an Adaptive Light Emitting Diode (LED) headlamp is performed on both the low beam and the high beam. Read these instructions thoroughly to align the Adaptive LED headlamp.
NOTE
Adaptive optics cannot be aimed. They are fixed within the headlamp.
  1. Check tire pressure.
  2. Adjust rear shocks for the rider and intended load.
  3. Fill fuel tank or add an equal amount of ballast.
  4. NOTE
Choose a wall in minimum light.
  5. See Figure 2. Park the motorcycle on a line (1) perpendicular to the wall.
  6. Position motorcycle so the front axle is 7.6 m (25 ft) (3) from wall.
  7. Draw a vertical centerline (2) on the wall.
  8. NOTE
See Figure 1. The upper lens is low beam on LED headlamps.
  9. See Figure 2. With the motorcycle loaded, point the front wheel straight forward at wall. Measure the distance (4) from the floor to the center of the low beam bulb.
  10. Draw a horizontal line (5) through the vertical line at low beam centerline.
  11. Verify headlamp alignment. The headlamp is aligned when the top of light beam hot spot is located as shown with headlamp set to low beam.
  12. Verify that all other lights are OFF during the alignment procedure.

Alignment of High Beam (Left-to-Right Alignment)
  1. Verify that the headlamp lens is perpendicular to the front forks for proper left-to-right alignment.
  2. See Figure 3. With vehicle laden and upright, point the front wheel straight forward at wall.
  3. Turn on the high beam. Align the center of the high beam such that the beam pattern is symmetric on the left and right side of vertical line (3).

Adjustment
NOTE
Do not remove trim ring for headlamp adjustment.
  1. Set LED headlamp to low beam.
  2. See Figure 5. Insert a 5/32 ball end hex wrench through adjuster slots in trim ring.
    1. Horizontal: Turn the horizontal adjusting screw (1) to adjust light beam left and right.
    2. Vertical: Turn the vertical adjusting screw (2) to adjust light beam up and down.
  3. See Figure 2. Adjust headlamp to center light beam as shown.
