NOTICE

NOTE
Do not force the switch into the locked position or switch damage can occur.
Using the fork lock immediately after parking your motorcycle will discourage unauthorized use or theft.
WARNING
Do not operate vehicle with forks locked. Locking the forks restricts the vehicle's turning ability, which could result in death or serious injury. (00035a)
FLHP Models
See Figure 1. The FLHP has a fork lock at the top of the steering head, behind the headlamp nacelle and inset in the handlebar clamp shroud.
  1. Turn fork to full left position.
  2. Insert key into fork lock and turn counterclockwise to lock.
  3. Remove key.
  4. To unlock fork, insert key and turn clockwise to UNLOCK position. Remove key.
  5. Check steering for proper operation by turning the handlebars through the full operating range. Handlebars should turn smoothly without binding.
FLHTP Models
See Figure 2. The fork lock is integrated into the ignition switch on FLHTP models. For fork lock detail, refer to Operation → Ignition Switch → Ignition Switch Positions.
  1. Turn fork to full left position.
  2. Insert key and turn switch knob to lock. Push knob down.
  3. Turn key to lock.
  4. Remove key.
  5. To unlock fork, insert key and turn to UNLOCK position. Remove key. Rotate switch knob out from the FORK LOCK position.
  6. Check steering for proper operation by turning the handlebars through the full operating range. Handlebars should turn smoothly without binding.
