Pillion Removal
  1. Remove the thumb screw and washer from top of rear fender.
  2. Slide the pillion back from the seat thumb nuts.
Riding without the Pillion
See Figure 1. If you prefer the look of a solo seat, the seat strap can be removed. Cover the thumbscrew boss with the decorative plug (4) found under the pillion.
Seat Removal
  1. Remove the pillion.
  2. Remove the two thumb nuts from the rear of the seat.
  3. Lift the rear of the seat. Pull rearward to remove seat tongue from the slot in the frame.
  4. Remove the seat strap.
Seat Installation
1. See Figure 1. Install seat strap (3) on fender seat mounting studs.
2. Slide seat toward front of motorcycle to engage the tongue into the slot in the frame (1) back while lowering the rear of the seat onto the seat mounting studs (2).
3. Install seat mounting thumb screws (3). Tighten securely.
4. Install the pillion, if desired.
WARNING
After installing seat, pull upward on seat to be sure it is locked in position. While riding, a loose seat can shift causing loss of control, which could result in death or serious injury. (00070b)
5. Pull up on seat and pillion to verify that it is properly secured.
Pillion Installation
1. See Figure 1. Slide the front of the pillion to engage the notches in the pillion bracket with the seat thumb nuts (5).
2. Tighten thumb screw with washer (6) to secure pillion to rear fender.
WARNING
After installing seat, pull upward on seat to be sure it is locked in position. While riding, a loose seat can shift causing loss of control, which could result in death or serious injury. (00070b)
3. Pull up on pillion to verify that it is properly secured.
