Figure 2. The motorcycle has the following three fuses to protect electrical systems.
Main fuse: A 40A fuse (1) that protects all the circuits including those circuits protected by the 15A Battery fuse. Failure of this fuse causes the motorcycle to stop running. See a Harley-Davidson dealer.
P&A fuse: A 15A fuse (2) that protects the circuits of any installed accessories.
Battery fuse: A 15A fuse (3) that protects all the circuits. If the battery fuse fails while the engine is running, the engine continues to run and critical circuits like the ABS brakes continue to function. However, the failure of this fuse triggers a diagnostic code. See a Harley-Davidson dealer.
The Body Control Module (BCM) protects all other electrical circuits. The BCM senses the condition of individual circuits, interrupts power as needed, and resets the circuit. If replacing a fuse or cycling power does not resolve the problem, see a Harley-Davidson dealer.
Fuse Replacement
NOTICE
Always use replacement fuses that are of the correct type and amperage rating. Use of incorrect fuses can result in damage to electrical systems. (00222a)
