Battery Removal
WARNING Sparks can cause battery explosion. Death or serious injury could occur.
To avoid sparks:
  • Disconnect negative battery cable first. Keep cable away from all metal parts.
  • Do not allow red-marked positive battery cables to touch metal motorcycle parts with negative cable connected.
  • If vehicle is equipped with optional security siren, verify that fob is present and turn ignition key to IGNITION before removing main fuse or disconnecting battery.
Battery Installation
WARNING Sparks can cause battery explosion. Death or serious injury could occur.
To avoid sparks:
  • Connect red-marked positive battery cables first. Do not allow re-marked positive battery cables to touch metal motorcycle parts with negative cable connected.
  • While connecting the re-marked positive battery cables, keep negative cable away from metal parts.
CAUTION Failure to connect cables to the correct battery terminal couls cause damage to the motorcycle electrical system.
Over-tightening battery terminal bolts could cause damage to battery terminals. Use recommended torque values.
