Care, cleaning and protection of the vehicle surfaces is the responsibility of the owner.
Clean and protect the cosmetic surfaces on your motorcycle as often as possible to inhibit rust and corrosion.
Some painted finishes and other surfaces may be scratched if gravel, dirt or grime are rubbed across the surface during washing. Use clean towels and avoid rubbing sediment across gloss finishes.
Do not use paper towels, cloth diapers or other materials with nylon fibers which can cause fine scratches to surfaces.
For repair of scratched surfaces, see a Harley-Davidson dealer.

Cleaning Wheels and Tires
NOTE
Corrosion to wheels is not considered to be a defect in materials or workmanship.
Wheels can corrode or be cosmetically damaged if they are not properly cleaned, polished and preserved.
Harley-Davidson recommends that wheels be cared for weekly.
Keep wheels clean from harsh chemicals, acid-based wheel cleaners, salt, and accumulated brake dust.
After washing wheels with WHEEL & TIRE CLEANER, use the polish and sealing products according to the type of wheels on your motorcycle. Refer to .
Cleaning
Regular and correct cleaning will ensure the durability of the motorcycle. When the vehicle is stained with corrosive substances or ridden in coastal regions, the motorcycle must be thoroughly cleaned.
Preparation before cleaning
| 1. | Allow the motorcycle to cool down before washing or cleaning. Spraying water on hot surfaces will leave water stains and mineral deposits. | |
| 2. | Flush the motorcycle from the bottom up with low pressure hose. | |
| 3. | To remove the dried insects or hard soil on the motorcycle, use a wet towel to wrap the surface. | |
Cleaning wheels and tires
| 1. | Flush the wheel and tire surface. Avoid splashing brake dust on chrome plated or painted parts. | |
| 2. | Use wheel and tire cleaner. Leave the cleaner for one minute | |
| 3. | Clean the wheels with a pest control sponge or wheel and spoke brush. Thoroughly remove brake dust and other deposits from the wheels. Brake dust can gather with moisture and dust, causing wheel corrosion. | |
| 4. | Thoroughly clean the wheels and tires. | |
Washing and cleaning the motorcycle
| 1. | Fill the washing bucket with clean water and add appropriate amount of soap liquid for vehicles. | |
| 2. | Soak and wash gloves or insect killing sponge in cleaning solution. | |
| 3. | Clean all surfaces of the vehicle. | |
| 4. | Thoroughly flush the motorcycle with sufficient water and dry it with a clean soft cloth. | |
NOTE
Special care shall be taken when cleaning lamps and plastic parts to prevent scratches.
During cleaning, prevent water from directly entering the muffler, throttle valve body, lamps, air filter and other electrical components.
Do not use bleach, strong detergent or other chemical solvent cleaning products to clean the seat, fuel tank panel or painted surfaces. Otherwise, components may be damaged.
